PRESCRIBED INSPECTIONS
All prescribed electrical installation work must be inspected by a licensed electrical inspector within 8 days of completion of the work as per clause 250 (1) in the Electrical Safety (General) Regulations 2019.
Clause 249 in the Electrical Safety (General) Regulations 2019 outlines the type of work covered under “prescribed”. As a summary we are typically looking at new consumers mains (Underground or Overhead), anything to do with the main earthing system, submains and earthing systems and any distribution boards in relation to induvial occupiers’ portions of a multiple occupancy as well as the types mentioned below.
SWITCHBOARD UPGRADES
All switchboard upgrades must be inspected by a licensed electrical inspector. The main importance of this type of inspection is to ensure you book in your inspection for the day in which you are completing the switchboard upgrade.
As per the Electrical Safety Act 1998, clause 45 (1). As the electrical contractor you are not permitted to reconnect the installation to supply until the installation has been inspected by a licensed electrical inspector. So to ensure that your customer is not without power for an inconvenient amount of time, make sure you book in your inspection time once you know your install date.
SOLAR, BATTERIES AND GENERATORS
We are hearing a lot about how hard it is for contractors to get their solar, batteries or generators inspected in a timely manner.
That’s not the case with us. Gippsland Electrical Inspections love renewables and if you let us know your install date we can typically organise a same day inspection as the install. At the very least we guarantee the inspection taking place the same week as the install.
